Ahli have refuted the FA claim over next week's Champions League tie against Ethiopian Coffee, insisting they are yet to receive a confirmation from authorities to host the game in Cairo. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior informed the Cairo club a few days ago that local police will not be responsible for securing the game at the Military Academy Stadium. A request to higher authorities was then made by the Egyptian FA, who announced on their website on Tuesday that Ahli and ENPPI - who play on Saturday - have the green light to host their respective continental games. However, Ahli said they received a fresh rejection from the Cairo Police Headquarters to secure the game, which puts the Egyptian league holders in an ordeal with CAF ahead of the match date. Not true “The FA's claim about the approval of security forces in not true,” Ahli spokesman Gamal Gabr told FilGoal.com as the club revealed the police rejection on their website. “We only received an approval from the Military Academy Stadium to play there. “Now the African football federation (CAF) is waiting for our response regarding the security of the game. “With the firm stance of security forces, Ahli may not be able to reply to CAF before Wednesday, which could well mean disqualification from the competition.” Ahli also said on their website that they are ready to play behind closed doors in order to avoid a possible CAF sancion.
