Egypt goalkeeping coach Ahmed Soliman said Amir Abdul-Hamid is to blame for conceding the second goal in the 4-2 loss to North American champions Pachuca in the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday. "Amir is solely responsible for the opposition's second strike, and the defenders share the responsibility for the rest of the goals," Soliman told ART. The 30-year-old, who has become the Red Devils' first choice keeper since the departure of Essam Al-Hadari, conceded the second goal when Christian Gimenez's mid-range free-kick landed beside the right post. The Pharaohs goalkeeping coach is convinced that Amir should have guarded the right side of the goal.
Pachuca pip Ahli "The keeper should be responsible for one side and the wall for the other, therefore Amir should have stood a bit further to the right," he explained. Despite blaming Abdul-Hamid, Soliman reiterated that the under-fire guardian has a lot of potentials, refusing to make comparisons between him and Sion's Al-Hadari. "Al-Hadari has started to impress on the international stage since 2006, two years earlier he wasn't even the national team's regular goalie," he added. "The fans have to be more patient. The Club World Cup is a massive tournament and Amir shall get an opportunity to prove his worth."
