Bayern Munich will not spend heavily this summer to sign new players, according to club manager Uli Hoeness. The Bavarian giants claimed the domestic double. They were largely helped by the likes of Luca Toni and Franck Ribery, who arrived in the summer of 2007. However, Bayern do not intend to be active in the upcoming transfer window. "I am not of the opinion that we need to buy players every year," Hoeness told Bild on Thursday. "We were very interested in AC Milan's Gennaro Gattuso. Unfortunately that did not come off. "But it does not make any sense to say: 'If we don't get Gattuso then we will buy someone so that we have bought someone'. "We have already signed Tim Borowski, an international after all," he added. Hoeness believes the current crop of players is capable of challenging for honors next term. "Last year there was a real need to strengthen the team. This year it is not the case. I can imagine us starting next season with our present squad."
