Hamburg coach Huub Stevens said his side helped their opponents Schalke to win during their Bundesliga match on Saturday. Mohamed Zidan's side were downed 1-0 at home as they lost more ground to Schalke and Werder Bremen for the second place and a Champions League ticket. "We gave Schalke a helping hand," Stevens was quoted as saying by the club's website. "We were only on the pitch for 85 minutes here today. We boosted them during the other five minutes." Schalke's Kevin Kuranyi scored the winner as early as the second minute. Hamburg then dominated possession but failed to convert. "When you go a goal behind against a team as solid as Schalke are, it is tough to break them down," Stevens said. When you play a good team like Schalke you have to take your chances which is exactly what we failed to do." Hamburg now have 48 points in fourth place, six points adrift of Schalke, who come third with four matches remaining.
