Nigeria coach Berti Vogts was assured by the Nigerian FA that his job is safe despite the Super Eagles' critical situation in the African Cup of Nations. The two-time champions are on brink of an early exit, having scored no goals so far in the competition, but NFA chairman Sani Lulu doesn't believe that Vogts is fully responsible for the poor show. "We have utmost confidence in Berti Vogts. We will still give him time. It is too early to say sack him or disband the team," the NFA president told reporters in Sekondi. "You can't entirely blame him for the team's performance here. If you follow the team's trainings, it is clear the players have not been doing on match day what they do in training." Nigeria will face Benin on Tuesday, knowing that a victory would mean nothing for them if Ivory Coast failed to beat Mali in the other group match. "Personally, I have lost hope in us getting to the next round but God in his miraculous ways could still give us the results we need," added Lulu.
