Al-Gaish regained their Egyptian League leadership after overcoming Ittihad 2-1 on Sunday as challengers Petrojet suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to Ghazl Mahalla. An own goal by Sameh Youssef gave Al-Gaish the lead in the 13th minute before Saied Rabie leveled the score six minutes later. Anwar Masoud sealed the victory for the military club four minutes past the hour mark. Al-Gaish moved to the top with 26 points, one ahead of second-placed Petrojet. Ittihad's misery continued as they lie second from bottom on just seven points. Coach Mohamed Salah is expected to be sacked. Eslewhere, Petrojet slumped to their second this season. Mohamed Ateya opened the scoring in the 58th minute before Morsi Abdul-Latif extended the lead seven minutes later Mohsen Hendawi completed the rout five minutes from time as Petrojet lost the league summit.
