Ahli cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Zamalek on Sunday to grab their second successive Egyptian league title. Manuel Jose's side scored an early brace through Emad Meteb and Mohamed Abou-Treika to bag their 66th point and secure the 31st Egyptian league title for the Red Devils. The Egyptian champions came on with all guns blazing and managed to open the score through Meteb in the 8th minute. The Egypt international pounced on a rebound to score from a tight angle after Abou-Treika's initial effort crashed off the post. Two minutes later, Islam Al-Shatter sent an inch-perfect low cross to Abou-Treika who nodded the ball home past hapless Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef. Abou-Treika missed a golden opportunity to extend the lead in the 14th minute when he connected with another deft Al-Shatter cross only to shoot over the bar with the goal at his mercy. Ahli had a penalty claim turned down in the 22nd minute after Tamer Abdul-Hamid appeared to bring down Abou-Treika in the Zamalek area. The rhythm of the game was brought down to pedestrian pace for the remainder of the half with Zamalek occasionally threatening Essam Al-Hadari's goal.

Substitute Flavio Amado, who came in for Al-Shatter during the interval, failed to end his goal scoring drought. The Angolan international was unchallenged at the receiving end of a Mohamed Abdul-Wahab cross but he astonishingly headed wide. Abdul-Ali nearly pulled one back for Zamalek when he received a Mostafa Gaafar pass at the edge of the area only to shoot wide from point-blank range. Flavio came close from scoring once again in the 84th minute when he unleashed a curling drive from the edge of the area but his effort went inches wide. Ahli's fans began their delirious celebrations at referee Stewart Dougal's final whistle as the team celebrated their league title. The win extended Ahli's unbeaten run against their local rivals to six matches, five of which the "red" team won. Ahli fans take to the streets in celebration
