Ahli striker Emad Meteb held third place in the annual World's top-scorers list of 2006 that was issued by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). Meteb came third with a tally of five goals, one behind Japansese club Gamba Osaka's Magno Alves and leader Samuel Eto'o of Barcelona. On the other hand, Egypt and Besiktas ace Ahmed Hassan held sixth place in the list with a tally of four goals. IFFHS counts all of the players' goals, whether with their clubs or respective countries, and compiles them in a yearly list. Meteb scored three goals during Egypt's African Cup of Nations (ACN) campaign and two goals with Ahli in their African Champions League campaign, that also witnessed Hassan net his four goals.
