CAIRO, September 25, 2018 (MENA) - The Court of Cassation explained the reasons for turning down a challenge filed by the prosecution against a ruling issued by the Giza Criminal Court exonerating former culture minister Farouq Hosni of illicit gains. Hosni was accused of abusing his post and gaining LE 9.813 million illegally. The court explained that investigations proved that Hosni accumulated his wealth from selling his paintings and assuming several top cultural posts, including a cultural attache in France. In 2013, the Giza Criminal Court issued a verdict clearing Hosni of the graft charges. The Court of Cassation upheld the Giza court ruling and rejected the challenge presented by the prosecution.
