Ethiopia, Eritrean leaders accorded warm welcome in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, July 24, 2018 (New Wires)- The prime minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmad and the President of Eritrea Isaias Afwerki were accorded a warm welcome at the Presidential palace in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
A number of ministers from the UAE and other top government officials were present on the occasion along with the ambassadors of various countries.
Eritrea and Ethiopia were at war for almost twenty years before they established diplomatic relations earlier this month. The UAE played a significant role in bringing the two warring nations together.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Abu Dhabi crown prince said, "A tripartite summit comprising Eritrea, Ethiopia, and the UAE gets underway in Abu Dhabi."
