GAZETTE STAFF Cairo, May 1, 2018 – The Egyptian Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, on Tuesday discussed with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Office Director in Cairo, Peter Van Rooij, a number of files regarding the projects being implemented by the ILO in Cairo in different fields. During the meeting which was part of the Labour Day activities, Minister Saafan said that the coming stage would require co-operation by the ministry and the ILO in training 30,000 labour leaders who would be elected in the next labour elections slated for mid-May. He pointed out that the programme would be starting this July, and it would train labour leaders,so they would meet international labour standards. Peter Van Rooij said that the ILO was committed to supporting Egypt in labour-related fields. He pointed out that, at the Egyptian government's request, the ILO was working on developing a programme that provides technical support for social dialogue and inspection.
