CAIRO, March 13, 2018 - Hundreds of local and foreign exhibitors showcased their products at the 51st edition of the Cairo International Fair which started yesterday. The Head of the Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA), Sami Younes, and Cameroon's Ambassador in Cairo DR. MOHAMADOU LABARANG inaugurated the exhibition with 23 Arab and foreign countries taking part. The fair will open its doors to visitors until March 23. "The exhibition is an opportunity for all participants to keep abreast of developments in various industrial fields," Younes said. It is also an opportunity to exchange expertise, open new markets for export and sign agreements between Egypt and the participating countries, he added. The exhibition is being held on an area of 30,000 square metres, 27,000 square metres of which have been allocated to 300 local companies. The "Expo" pavilion, spanning an area of 5,000 square meters, is hosting 50 Egyptian companies that are specialised in the sectors of building materials, chemicals, engineering industries, food industries, handicrafts, ready-made clothes and home furnishings. The fair, the EECA head said, is one of the most important promotional tools used by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to pave the way for the Egyptian export community members to market their products in international markets. "This event is the cornerstone for showcasing local products and realising competitiveness which helps improve the quality of these products and meet the needs of citizens," he added. The Ministry of the Interior, represented by the Prisons' Authority, took part in this year's edition of the exhibition for the first time with a pavilion spanning an area of 300 square meters. At the pavilion, the Ministry is displaying office furniture, hand-made products, food goods as well as agricultural and livestock products that have been manufactured by the prisoners. "This year's edition is better than last year's especially with regard to the space and attention given to exhibitors," Abdel Reheem Ayed, an exhibitor at the Iraqi pavilion, said. He added that the Iraqi pavilion showcases products of some companies specialised in the field of food industries, handicrafts and electronics.
