Development, automation of 90% of financial directorates to be completed before end of June: Finance Minister

The government is paying special attention to rationalising public spending

Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said in a statement on Sunday that the process of developing and automating 90% of the country's financial directorates will be completed before the end of this June.
This plan contributes to the governance of the state's financial system and raises the efficiency of financial performance in administrative authorities. As a result, state resources would be optimally used and directed to specific development tracks in accordance with Egypt's 2030 Vision.
The minister added that the coming period will witness the opening of a number of financial directorates in Assiut, Beheira, the Red Sea, Matrouh, and the New Valley, which will lead to achieving financial discipline and preserving the rights of the state, citizens, and workers as well.
Furthermore, Maait noted that developing buildings also creates a stimulating work environment that raises the level of performance, which positively impacts the efficiency of public spending.
He added that the government pays special attention to rationalising public spending so that funds are directed in accordance with urgent needs, especially in light of the global challenges that affected all world economies, especially those of developing countries.
The minister also pointed out that the financial controllers in the administrative authorities play a pivotal role in the governance of the procedures of the expenditure and revenue system, the disciplined and conscious interpretation of the provisions of the law, and laying the foundations for optimal spending of financial allocations, thus reducing the state's general budget deficit and the public debt and sustaining the improvement of the structure and growth rate, allowing for more job opportunities and promoting human development.
For his part, Tarek Bassiouni — Head of the Accounts and Financial Directorates Sector — said that the journey of modernising and mechanising financial directorates has begun across all governorates as per the state's efforts towards strengthening the governance of the financial system.
The government's work patterns are also now being developed in accordance with ambitious programmes that mainly focus on human resources by providing an environment for sustainable training.
He also pointed out that throughout the next three months, the financial directorate will be inaugurated in Assiut, the Red Sea, and Beheira.
Bassiouni explained that said directorates' work systems were fully automated according to the latest technological developments to ensure efficiency and to qualify them to become models for developing the work environment and digital transformation.
