New Year's Eve in Egypt has special vibes: Tourism expert

Almost everywhere in the world was buzzing with New Year's vibes, but each country had its own unique celebration. Abdel Rahim Rihan, Egypt's Director-General of archeological research and scientific publishing in South Sinai at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, believes New Year's Eve celebrations in Egypt have special vibes to them.
He added, in a press statement, that the event attracts much local, regional, and international tourism, with all hotels in Egypt usually being fully booked ahead of the event, as each establishment plans its own unique celebratory activities every year with the help of authentic Egyptian folk artists.
Additionally, Egyptian families tend to treat their children to Christmas confectionaries to celebrate the advent of the new year.
RIhan added that it is also quite common for Egyptians to stay up late and congregate around television screens, as satellite channels compete every year to present the best programmes and movies to commemorate the occasion.
Furthermore, many Arab tourists arrive in Egypt a few days prior to the celebrations to visit tourist and archeological sites nationwide — especially Cairo Tower — and celebrate New Year's Eve with locals in hotels and tourist resorts.
Moreover, tourists are always keen to visit several governorates in Egypt during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, especially Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor, and Aswan. There are also visitors who go on more spiritual trips and spend the end of the year in the Holy Valley of St. Catherine, he concluded.
