Egypt recovers two antiquities from Belgium

Egypt's Ambassador to Belgium, Khaled El-Baqly, received from the Belgian government two Egyptian artefacts that were illegally removed from Egypt.
In a press statement, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, on Saturday, that the two pieces are a colourful limestone statue of a standing man resting on a base dating back to the ancient Egyptian civilization during the Old Kingdom.

The two pieces were delivered in a ceremony held by the Belgian Ministry of Economy.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Labor of Belgium, and Ambassador Khaled Al-Baqali
El-Baqly expressed the importance of this event, as it represents a tangible step that expresses the distinguished relations between Egypt and Belgium, and paves the way for more coordination on various areas of joint cooperation, especially the issues of recovering smuggled Egyptian antiquities.
The Egyptian ambassador in Brussels also invited the Belgian people to visit the tourist destinations in Egypt and get acquainted closely with the history of the ancient Egyptian civilization that was established on the banks of the Nile River, and has long represented a tributary of science, culture and art worldwide and throughout history.
