Lafarge Egypt, a member of LafargeHolcim Group, has celebrated the International Women's Day by participating in Intercem's Virtual Webinar.
The e-conference underpinned the pivotal role played by inspiring women leaders in the cement industry. Intercem's webinar panel hosted women working in the cement industry from the UK, the US, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Egypt.
Noha Bakr, the Communications and Corporate Affairs Director at Lafarge Egypt, encouraged women around the globe to not to shy of working in heavy industry fields. She also addressed cement producers for the importance of inclusion and diversity.
She said, "Since inception, Lafarge Egypt took upon itself embracing diversity and inclusion, with fair practices that highly treasure integrity and transparency. Building upon such values, the company strived hard to equalize the rights provided for both women and men in recruitment and development. In addition, the company allocated an integral part of its CSR initiatives to empower women; financially and intellectually, optimising LafargeHolcim Group's entrenched values in this regard. Consequently, Lafarge Egypt's unceasing endeavors in enabling women have been crowned when 2 of our women leaders grasped Africa's top ranks among five Egyptian women at AFRIKACEM, to be followed by another esteemed recognition from the National Council for Women."
"Thanks to Egypt's sound political directives, women now can enjoy contribution in all occupational fields due to the state's legislations and authorities bound by its implementation," Bakr stated.
She commended Intercem's role in exhibiting the success stories played by women, highlighting how such initiatives overcame social and cultural challenges and exposed role models opening the door for more women to be encouraged to join the cement industry, and for the industry to embrace diversity and inclusion.
