Increasing numbers of Ukrainians want to visit Egypt: tour operators
Tourists talking of personal experiences in Egypt once they return home attracts more visitors, says Tourism Ministry official
Published in Daily News Egypt on 05 - 07 - 2020

Ukrainian tour operators have highlighted increasing demand from the country's citizens to visit Egypt, great news for a sector that has been hard hit by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
As a result, the tour operators have suggested re-opening Kids Areas and restarting Kids Animation services in Egypt's hotels, to encourage Ukrainian families with children to visit the country's coastal tourism destinations.
They praised the precautionary measures, as well as the health and safety regulations, that have been applied at Sharm El-Sheikh hotels and diving centres.
Tour operators also praised the continuous disinfection and sterilisation work, the commitment of workers to wearing masks during working hours, and the presence of a clinic and a doctor at hotels.
Their remarks came during a meeting with Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs, on the sidelines of the tour operators' current visit to Sharm El-Sheikh in South Sinai governorate. Shalaby was undertaking inspections of the precautionary measures and health and safety controls that are in place at the city's hotel and tourist facilities.
Shalaby responded to questions and inquiries about the resumption of Egypt's inbound tourism, and on the precautionary measures and health and safety controls applied by Egypt as international tourism resumes.
The deputy minister also pointed out the importance of tourists highlighting their personal experiences once they return home, which will enhance the appetite for others to visit Egypt's resorts.
During her visit to Sharm El-Sheikh, Shalaby met with a number of Ukrainian tourists who expressed their happiness at visiting Egypt
On Wednesday, two flights from Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, arrived at the Red Sea resort cities of Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh. In a press statement to mark the occasion, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said the plane that landed in Hurghada was carrying 173 passengers, while the plane that landed in Sharm El-Sheikh was carrying 124 passengers.
