British embassy to host ‘Design By Egypt' to empower young interior designers
Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat to attend event, along with 8 interior design companies
Published in Daily News Egypt on 04 - 03 - 2020

The British embassy in Cairo will host a special night for Egyptian interior designers to promote their work and help them develop their network.
The event, titled "Design by Egypt", comes as part of "Inspire Egypt" initiative launched September 2018 to celebrate inspirational Egyptians in different fields, and to help them to extend their networks, so that they can make a difference in Egypt and the rest of the world.
British ambassador Sir Geoffrey Adams, along with 70 young designers and representatives of designing houses, will participate in a one-hour panel to discuss the needs of the international market and the investment opportunities in Egypt and abroad in the interior design sector.
The participants will share their work experience and talk about how the Industrial Modernisation Centre (IMC) supports creative industries and help open new markets for young designers.
The panellists will include Vanessa Brady, Founder of the Society of British and International Interior Design (SBID); Sahar Sakkout, Sustainable Development Director at IMC, and Egyptian interior designer Aziza El Tanani as moderator of the panel.
Following the discussion, a party will be arranged in attendance of Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, along with eight interior design companies to showcase their work through re-decorating the embassy's garden or to make some installations while being mentored by the panellists.
The eight companies include Mona Hussien, TDF, Alchemey, Studio Five, Design Point Hussien Nassar, The Design Avenue, and Hany Saad.
SBID's Vanessa Brady is an internationally recognised award-winning interior designer and she has received an OBE from Britain's Queen.
Sahar Sakkout has a demonstrated history of initiating many successful projects in IMC across different programmes and industries.
Aziza El Tanani is the founder and managing director of the Design Emporium. It is the largest sole agent and distributor of European and American fabrics, soft-furnishings, wall-coverings, furniture, lighting and accessories in Egypt. The Design Emporium represents over 60 companies, and has offices in London and Cairo.
