The Egyptian website of Umrah (Islamic pilgrimage) will go online in the middle of August, according to Yousry Al-Saudi, a board member of the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (ETAA).
Ministry of Tourism explained the process of applying for Umrah through the new Egyptian platform, during a press conference on Sunday.
Last week, the cabinet approved a draft resolution for establishing an online platform for Umrah, to be supervised by the Ministry of Tourism, during a meeting held in the cabinet's new headquarters in New Al Alamein.
The Minister of Tourism, Rania Al-Mashat, explained that all Egyptian tourism companies will be registered on the website and each company will be given its own password through which it can conduct all its transactions and feature its programmes.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Ibrahim, head of the religious tourism committee at the ETTA, said that the website will include the regulations governing Umrah, allowing reservation of flights and hotels in Saudi Arabia.
He further revealed that the portal is linked with the Ministry of Interior as well as the Passports, Emigration, and Nationality Administration.
Ibrahim added the website will also have a mobile application, through which citizens can file complaints to the Ministry of Tourism, explaining that the application will allow pilgrims to share their location in Saudi Arabia, so that the ministry can solve any problem immediately during their stay there.
