Youth between the ages of 16 and 18 worldwide are the highest segment using the Internet and modern technologies, according to a PayFort report on digital trends among youth. PayFort's report showed that Generation Z spend an average of 17.3 hours per day using electronic devices, and 35% of that time on smart phones. According to the report, youths spend 6.3 hours per day using smart phones, 1.9 hours on tablets, 2.1 on video games, 3.5 hours on television, and 3.5 hours on computers. The report also explained that youths use smartphones for shopping and searching for brands and prices. It showed that 45% of youth between the ages 16 and 18 use smartphones to compare prices, 44% to read reviews of products, 39% to learn about product specifications, 33% to buy products online, and 31% to look at the official websites of the brands they are searching for. The report indicated that 64% of this age group streams YouTube videos on their smartphones, 51% read their Facebook feed, 45% use Instagram, 42% are on SnapChat, and 28% use them to browse Twitter. According to the report, 65% of the segment specified prefer to publish their opinions via social networking platforms. It also found that youth prefer electronic devices over other products, such as clothing, with 28% preferring to spend on electronics.
