President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met Wednesday with 17 newly appointed ambassadors to Egypt, according to a statement by the presidency spokesman.
The diplomats represented Rwanda, Senegal, Mongolia, Mauritius, Philippines, Germany, Malawi, Norway, and Tunisia. New ambassadors to Paraguay, Chile, Gabon, Ireland, Vietnam, Mali, Uruguay and Portugal also submitted their credentials.
In June, 11 other ambassadors were appointed to their respective embassies in Cairo including the Brazilian and Australian ambassadors.
The newly appointed ambassadors presented their credentials to Al-Sisi in the presence of Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shokry.
Al-Sisi welcomed the new ambassadors and wished them success in their missions in Cairo and stressed Egypt's keenness on boosting bilateral relations with the 17 countries in all sectors, according to the statement.
German Ambassador to Cairo Julius Georg Luy was appointed as the ambassador in Myanmar in 2008. Afterwards, he was the Permanent Representative of Germany to the Council of Europe from September 2011 to 2015.
Luy, who assumed his position as a successor to Hansjörg Habar, has previously expressed his commitment to support Egypt in its fight against terrorism and quest for stability.
Tunisian Ambassador to Cairo Nejib Mnif succeeded Mahmoud Khmer in his position in Egypt. Mnif served as Tunisia's Ambassador in Saudi Arabia from 2007 to 2012, before taking over at the Tunisian embassy in Berlin, Germany.
