Boxing's Froch retires
Four time world champion, Britain's Carl Froch, has decided to abandon the boxing ring forever
Published in Daily News Egypt on 22 - 07 - 2015

Four time world champion, Britain's Carl Froch, has decided to abandon the boxing ring forever. The super middleweight division boxer announced his retirement at the end of 38, ending his 14-year professional career.
Froch said the reason behind this decision is his having lost his passion for fighting. An elbow injury also forced him to give up this years' title, after his withdrawal from the match against Julio César Chávez. The last game Froch played was against George Groves in May 2014 at Wembley Stadium, which Froch won.
Throughout his career, Froch's total fights were 35 fights, 33 of which he won. His wins by knockout reached 24 wins. He only lost two games: one in 2010 to Denmark's Mikkel Kessler who won by a unanimous decision; and the other was in 2011, to Andre Ward of the US, also through unanimous decision.
His first victory was against Canada's Jean Pascal, in 2003, obtaining the WBC super middleweight title. The same title was obtained once more in 2010, thanks to his win over the German boxer Arthur Abraham.
His third international title was the IBF super middleweight, obtained in 2012, for his victory against the Romanian Bute Lucian. His fourth title was the WBA super middleweight, obtained in 2014, winning over the Danish Mikkel Kessler.
