Egypt's private sector off on Sept. 4

Egypt's ministry of labour announced on Monday that Thursday, September 4th, will be an official paid holiday for private sector workers under Labour Law No. 14 of 2025 on the occasion of Mawlid al-Nabi (Prophet Muhammad's Birth Anniversary).
Egypt's labour ministry said on Monday that Thursday, Sept. 4, will be a paid holiday for private sector employees to mark Mawlid al-Nabi (Prophet Muhammad's birth anniversary).
Employers can require staff to work if necessary, but workers must receive double pay or a substitute day off under Labour Law No. 14 of 2025, the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry also issued Circular No. 16 of 2025 o ensure the holiday's enforcement, directing regional offices and departments to implement its provisions at workplaces nationwide.
