Judges Club President Ahmed al-Zend on Sunday said judicial supervision of presidential elections must be by presidential order. “Otherwise we would be out of our jurisdiction,” he explained. Al-Zend denied that judges only pay allegiance to the ruling National Democratic party. “The judiciary in Egypt is independent,” he said. On the last parliamentary elections, Al-Zend said he cannot evaluate them. “We have no proof that they were rigged as some claim,” he said. Translated from the Arabic Edition.
