Dozens of lawyers belonging to the left-wing have protested yesterday in front of the Bar Association against interference by Ahmed Ezz, the National Democratic Party (NDP) Organization Secretary, as he met with Hamdi Khalifa, the chairman of the Bar Association, in a hotel last Thursday to form the Association's Bureau. The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) lawyers and those on Sameh Ashour's list did not join the protests. Tarek el-Awadi, the spokesman for Al-Hilali Liberties Association, said they will call for a trial of the board and will withdraw confidence from it. In the same context, the MB lawyers agreed to escalate their actions, too. They will ask all members not to meet with Ezz, hold vigils and ask the General Assembly to withdraw confidence from the board. Hamdi Khalifa called foe a board meeting on Monday to select the Bureau Members by direct secret ballot. As to the investigation by the public fund prosecution in the irregularities of Sameh Ashour's board, Dr. Salim Abu Ghazaleh, Ali el-Mawsali and Mustafa el-Sherbini were summoned to give their testimonies. Ashour is also expected to be summoned. The lawyers asked the chairman to seize the documents that prove these irregularities.
