Today Egypt says goodbye to one of the most important artistic symbols, Omar Al Sharif, The Egyptian actor who had performed a number of historic roles in Hollywood. Among the most famous global roles which he played are Dr. Zhivago, Funny Girl and Lawrence of Arabia. Sharif was nominated for an Academy Award and won three Golden Globe Awards and a César Award. Sharif lived alone in the hospital for the elderly. He was not interested in his last days in what was going on around him, even his son announced that the global superstar suffering from Alzheimer's disease for the past three years, was struggling to remember the most famous films he starred in. The legendary actor died alone, after touring various countries of the world and co-starring alongside a number of global stars and illustrious names, including Barbra Streisand, who co-starred alongside him in 1968 in "Funny Girl" directed by William Wyler. The Sharif and Streisand fell in love and were almost married. He also co-starred besides global star Sophia Loren in "More Than a Miracle". Omar Sharif that spent his life as "The Traveler" It was his last film in Egypt and after a long struggle with the disease, it was a heart attack that took his life, leaving him to die alone in an elderly care, and with absences to must actors, actresses, artists & public figures that were looking forward to be with him in any shot or photo.
