Egypt won Wednesday the membership of the Executive Council of the International Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO for two years starting from 2015 till 2017, Al Bawaba News reported. Egypt's ambassador and Chairman of the Executive Board of the UNESCO, Mohamed Sameh Amr said the election came in the framework of the twenty-eighth session of the General Assembly of the Commission. Egypt received the highest votes among Arab nations with 93 votes. The Arab nations are allocated to three seats at the council. " Egypt's new victory today expresses the confidence of the members in addition to the Egyptian important role within the UNESCO. It is also a recognition of the status of the Egyptian experts and representatives within the committees of the UN regarding education, culture and science," Amr added.
