Media reports are indicating that Israel's intelligence services have been put on high alert following tense political developments in Lebanon, though sources believe Hezbollah is handling the crisis fittingly Israeli intelligence services are on high alert due to developments in Lebanon following the latest governmental crisis, Israeli TV said. Israeli TV cited a prominent military source saying that a joint task force between Israel's military intelligence -- known as Aman -- and the Mossad is closely following developments in Lebanon with the understanding that all internal Lebanese developments greatly influence Israel's "national security." The report also pointed out that Israeli security services are keeping the country's leadership informed. There is a great deal of disappointment in official Israeli circles after the "Hezbollah candidate's" success – referring to Najib Mikati who was appointed premier Tuesday by President Michel Suleiman. A military TV reporter added that security sources believe that current developments indicate that Hezbollah is running the crisis in an exceptional manner and emphasised that Saad Al-Hariri's ability to manoeuvre has became limited. The sources also said that they are now certain that the Lebanese government will not cooperate with the UN-backed probe which has been investigating the assassination of prominent leader Rafiq Al-Hariri. Despite the developments in Lebanon it is unlikely a military confrontation with Hezbollah will erupt as the Shia group is currently engaged in a very critical and sensitive situation.
