Ahly's El-Shahat, Pyramids' Farouk out of Egypt's double header against Togo

Ahly's winger Hussein El-Shahat and Pyramids FC midfielder Mohamed Farouk were excluded from joining Egypt's upcoming training camp due to injuries ahead of a double header against Togo in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, the national team director Mohamed Barakat announced on Monday.
The Pharaohs will host Togo in their third Group G game of the qualifiers on 14 November before facing them away three days later.
“Scans revealed that El-Shahat is suffering from a muscular strain. The team's doctor informed coach Hossam El-Badry that it will be difficult for the player to join the camp as he needs a rehabilitation program for one week,” Barakat was quoted as saying by the official facebook page of the Egyptian Football Association.
“Also midfielder Mohamed Farouk of Pyramids FC won't be available as he suffers from a calf strain according to the scans,” he added.
On Tuesday, El-Badry called up 14 players from Egyptian Premier League teams, including seven players from CAF Confederation Cup finalists Pyramids FC in a preliminary squad for the Togo camp.
Farouk was already called up in the initial squad, but El-Shahat was yet to be included as the Pharaohs coach will complete his roster from Ahly and Zamalek after the White Knights match against Morocco's Raja's in the return leg of the African Champions League semis on Wednesday.
Egypt will begin their training camp on 3 November, with Ahly and Zamalek players on board, while the five foreign-based footballers called up earlier are scheduled to link up with their teammates six days later.
Under the guidance of El-Badry, Egypt were held to draws by minnows Kenya and Comoros in their opening qualifying games for the African Cup of Nations, which was postponed to January2022 instead of January 2021.
