Scarf it up this autumn
Published in Ahram Online on 22 - 09 - 2020

It's officially scarf season. And though it's still hot outside, now is the perfect time to get ready for the cold days to come with a stylish scarf that will be a superb addition to your winter wardrobe.
From silk and knitted to oversized and fringe, scarf patterns this season are different and assorted. They include embroidery, beads and other forms of decoration. Many scarves this autumn are bright and refreshing, with striking and lively coloured scarves making any outfit more exceptional and helping to realise some gorgeous ensembles.
Scarves are suitable for combining with jeans, and you can also use a scarf as a cape on the shoulders, tie a fashion scarf across the chest, or use it as a cardigan or belt.
Here are some scarf trends to follow this autumn:
Silk and chiffon scarves
Silk and chiffon scarves: These have always been an inseparable part of any woman's wardrobe, and their bright colours will add excitement to an outfit and a whole look. These scarves are refreshing in the gloomy season, with silk scarves being tied in a bow, a choker or loosely wrapped around the neck, and trendy scarves being made of silk in bold prints and delicate pastel tones.
Knitted scarves
Knitted scarves: Combinations of yarn scarves with youth-style jackets, coats and down jackets will be highlights of the season. Wooden brooches are also likely to be among the most popular decorations for scarf fashions this autumn.
Oversized scarves
Oversized scarves: These are keeping up their position, and there are no restrictions on sizes, as oversize scarves can be as big as you want them to be. Sometimes, they may even reach the knees or lower, and women with fuller bodies can manage to hide anything with them that they do not want to be visible. Oversized knitted and cashmere scarves can look chic with any outfit.
Bright scarves
Bright scarves: Fashionable scarves in bright colours are especially attractive, and scarlet, red, lemon, emerald, sky blue or purple scarves can add liveliness to an outfit in tandem with a calm outerwear palette. Trendy, bright scarves can also be monochrome or printed.

Skinny scarves
Skinny scarves: These are simple, high impact and affordable, and come in different materials from silky to sheer and printed versions. They go with any outfit, so pair them with suits for work or with cocktail dresses for a glamorous look. Skinny scarves can either be tied around the neck, worn backwards or used as a belt.

Fringe scarves
Fringe scarves: Fringe scarf fashions are different this season, with some designers preferring to add a fringe at the tips of the scarf, while others opt for side fringes. The incorporation of materials like leather or suede into fringe scarf trends this autumn can also make scarves stand out and add creative details to a final look.
