On the Christmas eve, 24 December, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra and soloists will perform Handel's oratorio Messiah at the Cairo Opera's main hall. The orchestra will be conducted by Ahmed Farag. The evening will also feature A Cappella Choir with choir master Maya Gvineria. The soloists of the evening are Dalia Farouk, soprano; Gala El Hadidi, alto; Amr Medhat, tenor and Reda El Wakil, bass Set to a text selected from the Bible, Messiah is one of the most popular Handel English-language oratorios, composed in 1741 and performed especially around Christmas time, and one of the best known Western classical choral works.
