A suicide bomber blew himself up Monday in Cairo's downtown Darb Al-Ahmar area, killing at least two policemen and injuring others. According to an interior ministry statement, the terrorist, aged 37, blew himself up behind Al-Azhar Mosque after police and state security personnel chased him. The explosion killed the terrorist, a state security member and a policeman from a Cairo investigative unit. The ministry said that investigations conducted after a bomb was found in the yard of Al-Istiqama Mosque in Giza governorate last Friday identified and located the terrorist, named El-Hassan Abdullah. Police personnel came close to arresting him before an explosive device he carried went off. Upon later inspection, security forces found a time bomb at Abdullah's apartment, which prompted the whole building to be evacuated.
