Art Alert: Artist talk with Marianne Fahmy at Cairo's CIC

As part of the CIC's current exhibition programme and the current group exhibition 'Submerged – on rivers and their interrupted flow' Marianne Fahmy will give an artist talk at CIC on 18 November.
Fahmy's will discuss her work, including her experimental video currently exhibited at CIC titled 'What Things May Come.'
Her work looks into "scenarios of the drowning of the Nile Delta due to rising sea levels and the scarcity of freshwater," as CIC describes.
The artist imagines a futuristic narrative in which "the ruins of abandoned large scale irrigation projects developed by the government in desert areas are re-appropriated by a future society facing a severe water crisis."
Fahmy is a visual artist working with video, moving images and installation art, with a focus is on the writing of history and undocumented historical narratives. Some of her past projects include History as Proposed (2016) and 31 Silent Encounters (2017), which she will discuss in her talk.
'Submerged' is a programme which consists of an exhibition, screenings, discussions and a workshop running at CIC until 15 December.

The exhibition is open daily from 12 to 9pm except Fridays, and runs until 15 December
