Egypt's National Press Authority announced on Tuesday that it had not yet decided whether to raise the prices of newspapers. According to a statement issued by the official body, which is in charge of a number of aspects related to printed media in the country, the committee delegated to study the impact of raising prices has not yet finished surveying journalists and writers about the issue, and the possible impact on distribution rates. Earlier this month, the NPA held a meeting with the CEOs and publishers of state-owned and privately owned newspapers to discuss raising prices, after months of increasing global paper prices.
