Egyptian Meteorologists expect a period of unsettled weather across the country through the end of the week, with rainfall expected in the capital Cairo and in other governorates. Temperatures in Cairo and the Nile Delta provinces are predicted to hit a low of 18-20 degrees Celsius and a high of between 28-30 C over the next three days, Wahid Saudi, spokesperson for the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, told Ahram Online on Tuesday. Lows across the northeastern coast and North Sinai region are forecast to be around 2 degrees lower. The northern part of Upper Egypt, including the governorates of Minya and Beni Suef, is predicted to experience a low of 15 C, while the southern part, where the ancient cities of Luxor and Aswan are located, await a slightly warmer low of 18 C. Light to moderate rain is expected starting Wednesday and continuing through Friday in the capital, Nile Delta, and northern governorates. Heavy rainfall is forecast along the northwestern coast including in the Matrouh governorate. The unsettled weather is expected to yield strong winds in the western part of the country, also affecting navigation in the Mediterranean Sea. Head of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority Ali Abdel-Al warned previously about coming bad weather conditions specially in Alexandria, Matrouh, as well as north and central Sinai, advising officials to take necessary precautionary measures in these areas.
