KAFR EL-SHEIKH, Egypt: The families of 80 fishermen detained in Libya called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to interfere to release their detained sons. The men are have been detained in Misrata and Tripoli for four days. Ahmed Mohamed Nassar, chief of Fishing Care Association, said that the fishermen were arrested and forced to enter the Libyan waters, although they were at their way to Malta. Nassar added that the fishermen are calling on the Cabinet to interfere and release them with their boats. Each boat costs 1 million EGP (U.S. $167,000). Ali Hussein, a boat owner, said that they need the Egyptian government to make a deal with Libya to not seize boats passing through their waters.
