CAIRO: The Cairo Symphony Orchestra will perform Rimsky-Korsakov's Dance of the Buffoons (from the opera Snowmaiden) and Capriccio Espagnol in addition to Dvorak's Symphony No.7 in D minor today. The orchestra, conducted by Hisham Gabr, will perform in the Main Hall of the Cairo Opera House at 8pm. The Capriccio is considered one of Rimsky Korsakov's greatest pieces and won him great acclaim when it debuted October 31, 1887 in St. Petersburg, Russia. The music was so moving that the musicians in the orchestra interrupted rehearsals frequently to applaud the composer-conductor. At the premiere itself the audience demanded a full repetition as soon as the first performance ended. Dvorak's Symphony No.7 in D minor is widely considered to be Dvorak's finest work in symphonic form.
