GAZA: Israel is deeply concerned about the results of the first phase of the parliamentary elections in Egypt, reported Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barack yesterday. “The preliminary indicators show that the Freedom and Justice Party will win about 40 percent of the votes, followed by the Salafist al-Nour Party, who will win nearly 25 percent of the vote,” Barack said in a statement to Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronot. “This is pushing Israel to reconsider its political relationship with Egypt,” he continued. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned earlier of the rise of Islamism in the Arab world, and how this is counter to Israeli interests.
