SANA'A, Yemen: The Egyptian embassies in Kuwait and Yemen today extended the People's Assembly voting period for the second time for expatriate Egyptian communities. The voting began last Wednesday and will finish tomorrow night, November 27. The two embassies expressed their clear interest in facilitating fair parliamentary elections for Egyptians abroad, saying that choosing their own candidate is an important part of Egypt's future. The embassies clarified that voters must secure their ballot in the large envelope provided on the Supreme Electoral Commission's website. Voters must also provide their voting zip code, their national identification number and their secret code. They must also include a photocopy of their foreign residency and the address of their embassy abroad. Vote counting will begin in earnest tomorrow and will be transparent, the Egyptian ambassador in Sana'a reported. “The media can attend the process before the ballots are sent in the diplomatic pouch to the Supreme Electoral Commission,” he added. This is the first time that expatriate Egyptians will be allowed to participate in Shura Council and People's Assembly elections. Arabic here
