CAIRO: Sixteen Egyptian political groups in Tahrir Square formed a Civil Salvation government chaired by presidential candidate Mohammad el-Baradei after an emergency meeting among political forces Friday, opposing a government proposed by Egypt's military rulers. Baradei's deputies would include Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh, Egyptian economic expert Ahmed Sayyed el-Nagar, Cairo Court of Appeal deputy chairman Asharf el-Baroudi, and presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi. Demonstrators have opposed a government headed by former Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri, who served in a government under deposed president Hosni Mubarak, due to his age and appointment by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. The political movements decided to stage a sit-in outside the headquarters of the Egyptian Cabinet to prevent Ganzouri from entering the Cabinet, said the free front of peaceful change spokesman, Essam el-Sherif. The revolutionary political powers include the Egyptian Democratic Social Parties, the Popular Alliance, Egyptian Current Party, Revolution Youth Coalition, The Free Front of Peaceful Change, the April 6 Youth Movement, el-Baradei supporters, Youth for Justice and Freedom, and the Maspiro Youth Union.
