CAIRO: The Kasr al-Nil Prosecution today decided to launch an investigation into the clashes between Egyptian Central Security Forces and demonstrators in Tahrir Square yesterday, November 19, which led to the death of protestor Ahmed Mahmoud. Mahmoud died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the coroner's report, and the prosecution ordered the body for autopsy. The prosecution also began taking testimony from the victim's next of kin as well as other injured demonstrators. The prosecution was unable to investigate the area in which Mahmoud was killed as clashes in Tahrir Square are ongoing. The prosecution also is currently interviewing activists who are currently detained, including Ahmed Doumma. The prosecution will be studying a report issued by the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior against demostrators, which alleges rioting, incitement to violence and assaults against security forces. Fifty-five protestors were arrested and are under interrogation.
