DAKAHLIA, Egypt: Security forces in Dakahlia governorate, headed by Brigadier Said Omara, restored calm to the governorate after assailants tried to storm a police station in Gamaliya Tuesday, in an attempt to release a drug dealer detained there. Incidents started after police officer Ahmed Ramadan arrested a drug dealer in a neighborhood of Dakahlia possessing a large amount of drugs. Following his arrest, criminal associates headed to the police station holding the detained. They barraged the station with gunfire and Molotov cocktails in an attempt to release their associate. Elements from Central Security Forces erected a cordon around the police station and declared a security alert as a precaution in case the incidents take place again. Security sources said that the attack did not cause casualties.
