NORTH SINAI, Egypt: Thousands of Arish residents in North Sinai protested yesterday to condemn the storming of their houses by national security forces, claiming that it resembled actions taken under the reign of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. The march traveled from the el-Fawakhrya Mosque to the el-Refai Mosque. Protestors carried signs condemning the national security forces reading, “Our Revolution is a Free One” and “National Security is Out.” The protestors also called on the ruling military council to hand over power to a civilian authority as soon as possible. The demonstration called on the public prosecutor to investigate the siege on the residents' homes. Supporters of Egyptian presidential candidate Hazem Salah Abu Ismail distributed leaflets calling for participation in the November 18 demonstration targeting the military council and the constitutional principles document drafted by Deputy Egyptian Prime Minister Ali el-Selmy.
