CAIRO: Egypt's Democratic Coalition reformed its coordination committee after al-Wafd Party's decision to withdraw from the coalition, according to sources. The liberal al-Wafd Party, one of Egypt's oldest parties, decided to run for upcoming parliamentary elections individually rather than as part of a coalition. The committee is composed of Mohamed al-Beltagi, representing the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Freedom and Justice Party and other Islamic powers; Ayman Nour, representing al-Ghad Party and other liberal parties; and Waheed Abdel Maguid and Saad Abood as representatives of al-Karama Party and other socialist parties. Sources told Youm7 that the new coordinating committee will meet with the coalition's parties to discuss their candidates who will run for parliamentary elections. They added that the coalition ruled out those parties that have not decided their position in the coalition. The sources added that the committee met on Thursday with eight parties to discuss priorities that should be taken into account while forming the election lists, such as parliamentary experience, party leaders, electoral experience, revolution youth, Coptic Christians, and women. They added that the coordinating committee will meet with the other parties in the coalition on Saturday and Sunday. They said the coalition will announce its electoral list after forming it. Elections for the People's Assembly, the lower house of the Egyptian parliament, are slated to begin November 28. It will be Egypt's first election in the wake of the January 25 Revolution that toppled the country's 30-year ruler and his regime.
