CAIRO: Around 300 protesters gathered in Tahrir Square Friday to participate in the demonstration entitled "Go back to your barracks." Demonstrators are rejecting the statement issued by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and signed by political parties. In the statement, the SCAF agreed to amend the Article 5 of the electoral law, to consider canceling the Emergency Law, and to enact a political isolation law. Article 5 bans any member of a political party to run on the third of seats reserved for independent candidates. Amending it would allow members of parties to compete for those seats without the risking losing membership in the Parliament. Demonstrators called for the end of military trials for civilians, and repealing the Emergency Law. Protestors set up a platform near the American University in Cairo, and tuned into the Quran Radio. Traffic movement is normal despite the absence of traffic police.
