CAIRO: Islamic thinker and presidential candidate Hazem Abu Ismail criticized Ahmed Shafiq, former Prime Minister and likely presidential candidate, and former Vice President Omar Suleiman. Abu Ismail described the General Staff as aborting the January 25 Revolution, adding that their application to run for president does not merit comment. “The Egyptian people do not suffer from schizophrenia, to revolt and then elect those who attempted to abort it,” said Abu Ismail. The candidate added that their candidacy gives the Egyptian people a chance to take revenge. “These are the same people who ruled during the Battle of the Camel,” said Abu Ismail, referring to Feb. 2, when supporters of former president Hosni Mubarak attacked protestors in Cairo's Tahrir Square.
