CAIRO: Egypt's Illicit Gains Authority (IGA) will refer some members of Egypt's former ruling regime to Cairo's Criminal Court, according to a high-ranking judicial source. They are remanded to custody until the case, which accuses them of illogic gains and exploiting their powers. Among those referred to the Criminal Court are Fathy Sorour, former speaker of the People's Assembly; Safwat al-Sherif, former speaker of the Shura Council; former Minister of Housing Ibrahim Suleiman; and former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly. The source said IGA experts made their reports regarding the above mentioned figures' wealth and compared their findings to the financial disclosure those persons presented when they took the charge of their positions. These reports will be included in the investigations after Eid, the three-day feast following the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, as a prelude to the reference of the defendants to the criminal court, said the judicial source. The initial investigation showed that the defendants made large profits through exploiting their positions or through illegal means, said the source.
