Dr. Salah Fadl, head of the Literature Criticism Assemblies, called for establishing a network of cultural centers in the Sinai Peninsula promote Egyptian tourism and attract tourists to Hurghada, Taba, and Sharm al-Shiekh. He added, “We can use holy places like Saint Catharine Monastery to support cultural and religious tourism in Sinai, which would lead to providing Bedouin with job opportunities.” He said that educational institutions should be a development priority in the Sinai Peninsula, viewing schools, training institutions, and scientific centers as “cultural infrastructure.” Fadl blamed the former regime for marginalizing Sinai from such services, considering it deserted. Fadl called for building cultural palaces in the main cities of the Sinai to protect Bedouin heritage and Sinai's public heritage in different fields. He stressed that the success of any cultural movement is based on respecting cultural diversity, in addition to achieving humanitarian, intellectual, and educational development. The Egyptian professor requested that civil society organizations increase activities in the cities of Sinai to put the area on the map of Egyptian civil society. He said that Sinai's creative minds, poets, authors, and artists all deserve the attention of Literature Criticism Assemblies and television and film artists.
