The Israeli spy Elan Chaim threatened to commit a suicide if the Egyptian authorities do not release him. Israeli Channel Two reported on Sunday morning that Chaim threatened to commit suicide. He demanded to meet with the Israeli ambassador in Cairo and send a message to his family in Israel, but Egyptian authorities refused. The Israeli TV underlined that Chaim's threats would be realized if the authorities continue to refuse his demands. Chaim threatened to go on a hunger strike at the beginning of August, Channel Two reported, adding that the Egyptian government, the Israeli ambassador and Israeli public opinion should bear the responsibility. An Egyptian court decided extended Chaim's imprisonment to 45 days in July. The representative of the American Consulate in Cairo attended this session.
