CAIRO: The Islamic advocate, Abdallah Abdel Rahman, decided his family will stage a sit-in outside the American Embassy in Cairo next Friday. Abdallah is the son of Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, who's been detained in the U.S. since 1993. Abdallah called all revolts and Islamic groups to participate in this particular sit-in after the Friday prayers in Omar Makram mosque to release Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman from prison in the US. Abdallah said his father is treated inhumanely in his prison, being monitored 24 hours by cameras and kept in a solitary confinement. He added his father is searched everyday by taking off all his clothes and is neglected regarding his medical treatment, especially since he's 73 of age, and is forced to wash his own clothes despite being blind. Abdallah said all this during a political seminar held in the Citadel association in Arbeen neighborhood with the presence of chairman of Egyptian Labor Party, Magdy Ahmed Hussein. It should be noted Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman is currently serving a life sentence in Butner Federal correctional institution in Butner, North Carolina in the U.S. He was convicted of rebellious conspiracy when he was a resident in New York. He was also accused of attempting to murder the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and exploding military facilities.
